Ballet, Contemporary, Lyrical, Tap, Jazz, Stage, Musical Theatre
Originally from Vancouver, BC, Milar began her official dance training at Dance Co at the age of three. Milar has trained in many different styles of dance, including Ballet, Pointe, Contemporary, Jazz, Tap, Musical Theatre, Acro, and Hip Hop. Milar has always known that her life’s work would be focused on dance.
Milar spent much of high school studying at Dance Co’s Professional Half-Day program, where she embraced the opportunity to train extensively in all styles of dance. It was during this time that she developed and honed her love and affinity for Ballet. Even while training as a high school student, she knew she wanted to continue her legacy and nurture the passion for Ballet in other young dancers. She is thrilled to now have the opportunity to share her passion for Ballet with the next generation of Dance Co students.
In addition to being a member of Dance Co’s PHD program, Milar also attended the School of Alberta Ballet in their professional division. She has trained at many other ballet institutions, includingthe Alberta Ballet Professional Graduate Summer Program, the Victoria Academy of Ballet, The Joffrey Ballet School, Lines Ballet School, and L’Ecole Supérieure de Danse de Cannes to name a few. Milar has competed at many international Ballet competitions, including YAGP, where she received an invitation to the YAGP International Ballet Intensive in New York City. She has been the recipient of countless scholarships and bursaries at competitions worldwide, including most recently a scholarship offer to the Sun Dance Summer Intensive at the Canadian Contemporary Dance Theatre in Toronto.
Milar has always shown interest in choreography, and began choreographing her own performance pieces at the age of fourteen. In 2016, she was the recipient of the “Most Promising Ballet Choreographer Award” from The Surrey Festival of Dance. Always looking for ways to improve her knowledge and technique, Milar is currently enrolled in Dance Co’s Graduate Training Program. Milar is especially passionate about the Cecchetti Method. She is currently working towards her Associate and Diploma exams and was awarded her Cecchetti Advanced 2 exam in the fall of 2016 as member of the GTP.
Milar is excited to be back for her third year as part of the Dance Co Teaching Faculty.
