Renée Sigouin

Jazz, Ballet, Contemporary, Tap

Born in Saskatchewan, Renée Sigouin is a graduate of Vancouver’s contemporary dance education initiative Modus Operandi, where she was granted a full scholarship for her final year. During her time in the program, Renée collaborated on the creation of full-length piece “Article In” as well as several short dance films, and interpreted works by Tiffany Tregarthen, Justine A. Chambers, Amber Funk-Barton, Science Friction and Wen Wei Wang. Renée choreographed and performed solo work in multi-disciplinary project ‘Silo à Souvenirs’ involving five Saskatchewan artists, broadcast on Radio-Canada (2010) and has performed at the Young Choreographer’s Festival NYC, FUSE at Vancouver Art Gallery, Merge 4, and Vancouver Culture Days. She was recently a part of the EDAM Choreographic Series in experimental research work by Tiffany Tregarthen and David Raymond/Out Innerspace Dance Theatre and has apprenticed research processes with Justine A. Chambers and Dana Gingras’ Animals of Distinction. Renee looks forward to working with Wen Wei Dance and Out Innerspace Dance Theatre this season, and is excited to share and create with Dance Co students.
