Allysan Lui

ACRO | JAZZ | LYRICAL | TAP | BALLET

Allysan began her dance training in Calgary, AB through Dance On Edge Inc at 4 years old. She grew up studying Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Lyrical, Hip Hop and Musical Theatre. She has also been honoured to win overall scholarships to train with the School of Alberta Ballet Professional Division in Calgary. Allysan completed a dual degree program for a Bachelor of Arts in Dance combined with a Bachelor of Kinesiology with Honours at the University of Calgary, where she studied Contemporary dance. Throughout this program, she performed in full length works by university faculty and students. She travelled to Ireland in 2022 to present her Honour’s thesis on the “Validity of the High Intensity Dance Performance Fitness Test in Undergraduate Contemporary Dancers” at the International Association for Dance Medicine and Science conference, where she was also presented with the Student Researcher Award. During her final year of undergrad, she was an apprentice company member of W&M2 Dance Company where she performed in professional works by Melissa Monteros and Wojciech Mochniej. Allysan has achieved many teaching certificates while teaching and choreographing in Calgary for the past 5 years, including her Healthy Dance Practice Certificate, Acrobatic Arts Module 1, and ADAPT teacher certification. Allysan is currently in her 2nd year of the Master of Physical Therapy at UBC and during her own free time she is a dancer with Quill Collective by Carlo Atienza. Allysan has loved teaching at Dance Co so far and cannot wait to work with the students in another great season!
