Lauren Roszko
HIP HOP | JAZZ | CONTEMPORARY
Lauren (she/her) is from small town Whitecourt Alberta, and found a strong passion for dance at the age of 5. Hiphop was the first form of dance Lauren was introduced to, but she soon began to train in various styles. A majority of her training consisted of attending conventions such as Groove Street Production directed by Joanne and Alex Pesusich. Soon after attending these conventions Lauren knew she would pursue a career in dance.
To start her journey she moved her training to Edmonton Alberta, where she studied more disciplines of dance at Edmonton School of Ballet. There she trained in more fine tuned, and specialized forms of the arts, such as Cecchetti , and RAD, Graham and Horton, tap, hiphop and jazz. After graduating Lauren did not hesitate on moving to Vancouver to train with the Source dance company directed by Joanne Pesusich. Source is an amazing pre professional company where Lauren begin her career and started to build a platform. She trained in multiple styles, learnt about the industry, had the chance to work with other artists and teachers/choreographers from L.A, Vancouver, Toronto, and London! Now she has shifted her focus to learning more about different street styles. Lauren has trained in freestyle companies such as Higher Ground lead by Natasha Gorrie, where she practiced hiphop, popping, breaking, locking and litefeet! Lauren continues her freestyle training now under the wings of Chris Bonus in a company called Overryde, where dancers can incorporate any training they have into their freestyle. Aside from freestyle Lauren is happy to continue to train with TwoFourSeven Company, directed by Chris Bonus and Helen Dang, which focuses more on competitive/creative choreography. This crew is known to perform in LA, Boston and other cities, Lauren hopes to make it there one day as well! She is also a member of an all girls crew Ruffnecks, lead by Roberta Bierman.
Now as Lauren continues to train with crews, she begins to find work dancing in music videos for local artists, on stage in music festivals and teaches Hiphop, contemporary and choreography classes around the city. She is grateful to share with the community, and enjoys teaching at, elementary and secondary schools, dance studios and within her company classes as well! Lauren is eager to learn and share.
